Artur Aleksanyan was declared the vice-champion of the Olympic Games

Greco-Roman wrestler, gold, silver, and bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, four-time world and seven-time European champion, 97 kg weight Artur Aleksanyan became the vice-champion of the Olympic Games for the second time in his career.

In the finals of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Aleksanyan wrestled with the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, the world and Asian champion, the winner of the Asian Games, Iran's Mohammad Hadi Saravi, and lost 1:4 to his opponent.

To recall, at the start, Aleksanyan had a 9:0 advantage over the representative of South Korea, Seungjun Kim, ahead of time. In the quarter-finals, the Armenian wrestler wrestled with the representative of Uzbekistan, world vice-champion 40-year-old Rustam Asakalov, and in the last seconds, he won an impressive victory with a score of 9:5. In the semi-finals, he had a brilliant victory with a score of 5:3 over the Cuban Gabriel Rusillo.

Aleksanyan reached the finals of the Olympic Games for the third time in a row. This is Armenia's third medal at the Paris Olympic Games.
