RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan today received the members of the Armenian Olympic team, who will participate in the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris from July 26 to August 12.
Karen Giloyan, the deputy minister of MESCS and the head of the national team, attended the meetings and the personal trainers of the athletes. Welcoming the athletes, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan wished them success ahead of the leading sports event of the quadrennial and thanked them for their colossal work.
"We are eagerly waiting for your competitions. Our expectations for the Olympics should be high enough, although no predictions should be made. In any case, the claims that we should have a very strong participation, I think, excites all of us. Going to the Games shows how much work you've done and how much you've overcome. Congratulations on this important opportunity to participate. The efforts put in by both you and the coaches are tremendous, and the state appreciates them. Many factors are essential in sports, but you have the spirit to fight, persistence, and perseverance," said Zhanna Andreasyan.
The minister of MESCS emphasized that the joy of victory, which the athletes have given many times, gives confidence and faith that we will see their best competitions in the Olympic Games. "I wish you all success. The state is on your side. We have tried to carry out all the necessary preparations so that your participation in the Olympic Games will be effective and at a proper level."
During the meeting, Zhanna Andreasyan presented the athletes with badges specially made for Paris-2024 in the shape of an Armenian apricot, which, according to the minister, can be considered the badge of Armenian participation in the Olympic Games. Zhanna Andreasyan also informed that during the Olympic Games, the "House of Armenia" will operate in the capital of France, where various events and meetings with fans will be organized. "It will be a small Armenia in Paris and during the Olympic Games it will convey to you the strength and faith of thousands of fans. I am sure that we will have occasions to celebrate your successes, because we have seen many times how even in the most unlikely situations you were able to show will and strength, registering important victories. I am sure these qualities will also help you create new victories this time."
Karen Giloyan, the deputy minister of MESCS also welcomed the members of the Armenian Olympic team and wished them success in the upcoming games. Referring to the "Olympic House of Armenia" in Paris, he informed that its official opening will take place on July 25 in the AGBU building in the center of Paris.
"I wish you all victory. A very strong team is going to the Olympics. I am more than sure that we will reward many of the participants later for glorious victories, and the rewards are indeed significant. The state champion will receive 25 million drams. The state will also be joined by the NAOC and our partner company Fastex, which provide equal rewards to the gold medalist of the Olympic Games. That is, you get a respectable amount of money for your hard wins. Know that the whole country is on your side," said Karen Giloyan.
The athletes and coaches participating in the Olympic Games thanked for the reception and support and noted that they will do their best to uphold the country's honor and perform at their best.
