The Paris 2024 Olympic flame lighting ceremony took place in Olympia.
The ceremony was attended by the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou; the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach; the head of the Paris-2024 Organizing Committee, Tony Estange; the French Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudea-Castera, the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, the President of the Greek NOC, the President of the European Olympic Committees; and the IOC member, Spiros Kapralos.
The Olympic flame relay will last 11 days in Greece, after which the flame will be handed over to the games' organizers in Athens. The next day, it will leave for France on the 120-year-old sailing ship Le Belem. On May 8, the flame will arrive in Marseille, from where the relay will begin through France's territory. It will conclude with the games' opening ceremony on July 26.
