Hamilton close to Ferrari move

The seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton is nearly leaving the "Mercedes" team. Insiders report that the Briton could join the Ferrari team in an attempt to win his record eighth title.

The 39-year-old is set to join the Italian outfit in 2025 despite signing a two-year deal with Mercedes last season.

Formula 1 insiders believe the deal could be completed within 24 hours.

The emergency meeting of the "Mercedes" team is scheduled for today, February 1, and will begin at 18:00 Yerevan time, the BBC reports. At the end of that meeting, a sensational decision can be announced.

The press has long linked Hamilton with a move to the most famous team, but the seven-time champion has always shown his loyalty to Mercedes and boss Toto Wolff.

However, SunSport believes Hamilton will activate the break clause in his contract, allowing him to leave Mercedes at the end of this season.

It should be noted that Hamilton has been winless since December 2021; in the same season, he lost the title to the Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.

It has been reported that Hamilton's setbacks could be that Mercedes supplied two cars during this period that "suffered" from problems, meaning he could not challenge for wins and titles.

Ferrari chairman John Elkann has long admired Hamilton's talent, and the two have held talks in the past.
