"If the Super League project goes ahead, I will resign." Thebes

The president of La Liga, Javier Tebas, spoke about his intention to resign in case of successful development of the Super League project and explained the reason for such a decision.

"If the Super League project goes ahead, I will resign. I would leave because Spanish football would face a terrible economic problem. Incomes will be cut in half in a short time. I cannot continue what is leading us to destruction and disaster. Fifty-three thousand professional football players and many families live on it. This entire ecosystem of success that we have created over 40 years will collapse," Tebas was quoted as saying by El Mundo.

Earlier, the re-creation of the European Super League project, a competition in which clubs from any European championship could participate, was announced. In December, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled that FIFA and UEFA do not have a competition monopoly.
