On January 18, 1992, the Football Federation of Armenia was founded. We present the message of FFA President Armen Melikbekyan in this regard.
"32 years ago, when the Football Federation of Armenia was founded, the people standing at the beginning of the creation of the governing body for football in Armenia could hardly have imagined what Armenian football would be like in 3 decades. The founding of the Federation was carried out under challenging conditions, making this vital event even more valuable.
In 2024, we celebrate the anniversary for the first time without the first president of the structure, the legendary football player Nikolay Ghazaryan. This is another occasion to remember and pay tribute to one of the legendary figures of Armenian football and to emphasize his role in the development of football in independent Armenia.
Armenian football has overcome many complex problems during these years, with both failures and happy moments. As a sports organization, the FFA always faces the task of achieving results and raising the role of Armenian football in the international arena. However, today, I want to emphasize the goal of football, which could be more evident at first glance: to ensure broad social involvement.
In addition to the problem of achieving sports goals by the Armenian teams, the FFA is obliged to work in the direction of ensuring the wide spread of the sport, including the representatives of different social groups in the processes, and increasing the geography of football in the Armenian regions. Instilling a love of games among children is also an important issue. Very few become professional football players, and the team spirit, friendship, and qualities of helping each other, which can be taught through football, are formed in children during training and can be their companions throughout their lives.
Today, once again underscoring the crucial social role of football, I wish the members of the football family endless love for football and fruitful work at all levels of the football field."
