European champion Davit Hovhannisyan, a member of the men's weightlifting team of Armenia, won a silver medal in the weightlifting Grand Prix in Doha, which is ranked for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, with a result of 370 kg.
Hovhannisyan showed a result of 170 kg in the 96 kg snatch exercise, and in the push exercise, he held the 200 kg barbell above his head.
Another representative of Armenia, Andranik Karapetyan, weighing 89 kg, took 7th place, resulting in 370 kg (170 + 200 kg).
Earlier, 18-year-old Alexandra Grigoryan became the bronze medalist of the Grand Prix, winning her first medal in the adult competition.
Alexandra Grigoryan, the gold medalist of the Youth World, weighing 55 kg, showed a result of 189 kilograms in the duel and stood on the third step of the honor platform. In the snatch exercise, the Armenian sportswoman held the barbell weighing 81 kg above her head, and in the push exercise, 108 kg.
Garik Karapetyan, Samvel Gasparyan (both 102 kg), Varazdat Lalayan, and Simon Martirosyan (+109 kg) went to the competition as part of the Armenian weightlifting team led by Pashik Alaverdyan.
The women's team includes Liana Gyurjian (81 kg), Tatev Hakobyan, and Hripsime Khurshudyan (87 kg).
The weightlifting Grand Prix in Doha will last until December 14.
