Tigran Hovsepyan, representing Armenia (50 kg), defeated Dimitri Yankov, representing Bulgaria, and became the world champion in the final fight of the World Junior Boxing Championship held in Yerevan.
Arno Darchinyan also disputed the title of world champion. In the final 46 kg weight category, Darchinyan's opponent was Islam Magomedov, representing Russia, who was awarded the victory.
Heghine Petrosyan (48 kg) competed with India's representative, Payal Payal, in gold medal wrestling at the World Junior Boxing Championship. Heghine Petrosyan lost to the latter and was awarded a silver medal.
