Wrestling U23 AA. In Mezhlum, Mezhlumyan won a bronze medal

Mezhlum Mezhlumyan, a member of the freestyle wrestling team of Armenia, won a bronze medal at the Under-23 World Championship in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

In wrestling for the bronze medal in the 61 kg weight class, Mezhlumyan measured his strength against Ivan Hramika, who played under the neutral flag and won confidently with a score of 11-0.

The Armenian wrestler lost to Russian Bashir Magomedov, who performed under a neutral flag, in the opening match. The latter reached the final, as a result of which Mezhlumyan had the opportunity to hold a consolation match and fight for the bronze medal. In the consolation match, Mezhlumyan won 11-0 over the American Julian Chlebove.

The other representative of Armenia, 57 kg Manvel Khndzrtsyan, reached the finals of the U23 National Championship, winning 13-3 in the semi-finals over the representative of Mongolia. Today, on October 25, the Armenian wrestler will fight for the title of the winner of the National Championship with the Russian Nachin Mongush.

Khndzrtsyan started the fight in the U23 NA from the 1/8 finals, where he won 11:0 over the US representative Cooper Flynn; in the quarterfinals, the Armenian wrestler was more potent than the German wrestler with a score of 2:1.

97 kg Sergey Sargsyan and 79 kg Menua Yaribekyan are also close to winning a medal in freestyle.

After two victories, Sargsyan lost 0-11 to the American Whitman Trumble in the semi-finals and will fight for the bronze medal. At the same time, Yaribekyan will have a consolation match with the representative of Spain, Gabriel Iglesias Ramos, and if he wins, he will fight for the bronze medal.

Other members of the youth freestyle wrestling team of Armenia suffered defeats at different stages and were excluded from further competition.

From October 27, the mat will be given to young Greco-Roman wrestlers. The U23 World Championship will end on October 29.
