The Armenian youth boxing team won 2 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze medals at the European Junior Youth Championship held in Slovenia. By the way, 13 medals in this age group is a record in the history of Armenian boxing.
Karen Zakharyan (50 kg) and Arsen Darbinyan (54 kg) were awarded the title of winner of the European Youth Championship. In the final, Zakharyan had a convincing victory over Jason Maher from Ireland, and Darbinyan defeated the representative of Romania with a score of 5:0.
Hrach Khachatryan (80 kg), Lianna Zhamharyan (44 kg), Hamest Afrikyan (46 kg), and Anahit Harutyunyan (48 kg) became the vice-champions of the Junior European Championship.
The other 7 Armenian boxers who went to the competition stood on the third step of the honor platform. Astghik Khachatryan (36 kg), Gor Karapetyan (46 kg), Suren Katvalyan (48 kg), Arsen Karapetyan (60 kg), Felix Papikyan (63 kg), Volodya Kirakosyan (66 kg) and Aram Tumanyan (90 kg).
The Armenian team went to the competition under the leadership of Artur Melkumyan. Armen Baghdasaryan, Khachik Khachatryan, and Artur Vardevaryan were also on the coaching staff.
