Armenia's representatives have won successive medals at the European M20 and M23 weightlifting championships, ending in Bucharest, Romania's capital.
Suren Grigoryan (89 kg) was awarded the title of the winner of the European Championship in the competition under 20 years old, showing a result of 341 kg (150+191) in the doubles. Grigoryan was awarded a small gold medal in the push exercise and a small silver medal in the snatch exercise.
Emma Poghosyan (81 kg), the other representative of Armenia in the U20 competition, took second place with 221 kg (90+121) and became a silver medalist. Poghosyan also won miniature silver medals in snatch and push exercises. By the way, Poghosyan surpassed the Swedish sportswoman who won the bronze medal by 38 kg in the doubles and lost 8 kg to the Georgian sportswoman who won the championship.
It is worth noting that Rafik Harutyunyan (81 kg) and Garnik Cholakyan (61 kg) won the gold medals in the U23 competition earlier, while Karen Margaryan (81 kg) won the silver medal.
Tigran Karapetyan (67 kg) and Gor Sahakyan (73 kg) won silver medals in the under-20 competition, while Alexandra Grigoryan (58 kilograms), Seyran Khudanyan (55 kg), Meruzhan Yeghoyan (61 kg), Martin Poghosyan (73 kg) won silver medals. And Mnatsakan Abrahamyan (81 kg) became the bronze medalist.
The European Youth Championship is held from July 23 to August 3.
