The European weightlifting championships under 20 and 23 have started in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, in which Armenia won the first medal.
Seyran Khudanyan (55 kg), the representative of Armenia in the competition under 20 years of age, stood on the third level of the platform of honor with the result of 216 kg (95+121) in the double event and became a bronze medalist. The Armenian weightlifter also won a small bronze medal in the push exercise.
Meruzhan Yeghoyan (61 kg) and Garnik Cholakyan (61 kg) will participate in the U20 competition today.
Armenian national teams left for the competition in large numbers.
U20 team: Seyran Khudanyan (55 kg), Meruzhan Yeghoyan (61 kilograms), Tigran Karapetyan (67 kg), Gor Sahakyan, Martin Poghosyan (both 73 kg), Mnatsakan Abrahamyan (81 kilograms), Suren Grigoryan (89 kg) ), Felix Gevorgyan (96 kg), Garik Karapetyan (102 kg), reserves: Ashot Movsisyan, Vazgen Grigoryan (+109 kg).
The women's team includes Alexandra Grigoryan (59 kg), Anush Arshakyan (64 kg), Alina Sukiasyan (71 kg), Anna Amroyan (76 kg), Emma Poghosyan (81 kg), Margarita Arakelyan (87 kg) and Julieta Avanesyan (+ 87 kg).
U23 team: Garnik Cholakyan (61 kg), Rafik Harutyunyan, Karen Margaryan (81 kilograms), Gevorg Ghahramanyan (89 kg, reserve), Ara Aghanyan (96 kg), Petros Petrosyan, Yasha Minasyan (both 109 kg), Liana Gyurjian (87 kg), Luiza Sahradian, and Mary Tumasyan (+87 kg).
The European Youth Championship is held from July 23 to August 3.
