At the European U15 and U17 weightlifting championship ending in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, Armenia has already won 9 medals, 5 of which are gold.
On July 9, 16-year-old Emma Poghosyan became a two-time winner of the Youth European Championship among the representatives of Armenia. Emma won a gold medal in the 81 kg competition with a result of 225 kg (96+129 kg). The Armenian sportswoman also won miniature gold medals in the snatch and push exercises. By the way, Emma Poghosyan set a European under-17 record by holding a 129 kg barbell above her head in the push-up exercise. The Armenian athlete won the European Youth Championship in 2022 in the under-15 competition.
Valerik Movsisyan, who weighed 89 kg, won the title of winner at the European Youth Championship, becoming a gold medalist with a result of 305 kg in the two-fight event. Movsisyan snatched 145 kg, pushed 160 kg, and was awarded miniature gold medals in individual exercises.
Anna Amroyan secured another gold medal for the Armenian team. In the under-17 championship, Amroyan won the title of winner in the 76 kg category with a result of 209 kg (92 + 117 kg). Amroyan also won miniature gold medals in snatch and push exercises.
Among the representatives of Armenia, Hovhannes Ghahramanyan won the silver medal in the two-fight event with a result of 312 kg (140+172 kg), and Alina Sukiasyan won a bronze medal in the women's 71 kg competition with a result of 185 kg (85+100 kg).
Earlier, Zhora Grigoryan (61 kg) and Seryozha Barseghyan (67 kg) also won the title of the winner of the Junior European Championship. In comparison, Karlen Davtyan (49 kg) and Yughaber Amroyan (40 kg) became bronze medalists.
On the last day of the competition, on July 10, Rustam Sahradian, Ashot Margaryan (102 kg), and Gagik Mkrtchyan (+102 kg) will take the stage.
