Armenian representatives won 3 gold, one silver, and one bronze medal on the second day of the competition of the 25th competition of the Cup named after European champion, three-time World Cup winner, Olympic vice-champion, USSR Honored Master of Sports, freestyle wrestler Stepan Sargsyan, reports the RA MESCS.
Appearing in the 57 kg weight category, Arsen Harutyunyan won a gold medal, winning 11-1 in the final against the representative of Georgia, Giorgi Gegelashvili. 65 kg Vazgen Tevanyan won the gold medal in 48 seconds with brilliant tricks against Bulgaria's Mikya Naim (13-1), and Arman Andreasyan won a 5-3 victory over Kazakhstan's representative in the final.
Another representative of Armenia, 74 kg Hrayr Alikhanyan, became a silver medalist, losing to the representative of Moldova in the final.
Among the Armenian freestyle wrestlers, Mezhlum Mezhlumyan won a bronze medal, winning over the representative of Kazakhstan in the crucial 61 kg wrestling match.
Wrestlers from more than 15 countries are participating in the 25th draw of the Cup, named after Stepan Sargsyan. The tournament winner will receive $3,000, the silver medalist $2,000, and the bronze medalist $1,000. The champion trainer will also receive the same amount. The competitions are preliminaries for the World Championship in Serbia, a qualifier for the Olympic Games.
