Marcelo Bielsa has been appointed the head coach of the Uruguay national team.
The Argentinian specialist will prepare the team for the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. The contract terms are not disclosed. Still, earlier, it was reported that the agreement is scheduled until the end of the World Cup qualifying round, with the option of extension in case of reaching the tournament's final round.
The last workplace of the 67-year-old specialist was the English "Leeds," which he left in February 2022.
This is Bielsa's third experience with national teams. He coached the national teams of Argentina (1998-2004) and Chile (2007-2011).
