RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan today received the Armenian sports gymnastics team members, who recently returned with medals from the world youth and European adult championships held in Turkey.
The meeting with the medal-winning athletes was also attended by the deputy minister of MESCS, Karen Giloyan; head coach of the gymnastics team Hakob Serobyan; coach Hayk Nazaryan; and other representatives of the federation.
After welcoming the guests, the Minister of Sport and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, congratulated them on their recent successes and noted that the athletes' victories are encouraging and represent an excellent value for the state.
"You can't even imagine how much you cheer us all up with your victories and good performances. I believe that your victories are not only personal achievements. Thanks to them, you represent the country, raise its flag, and sing the national anthem. Your victory is also the victory of the state. These days, when we constantly face new challenges, problems, and difficulties, sports is a field that also excites our people. Indeed, we are very proud of your victories," said Zhanna Andreasyan and emphasized that it is particularly encouraging that our country's anthem is played in countries where it is essential and symbolic for us.
Zhanna Andreasyan also stated that the once-good traditions and legendary names of gymnastics are being restored today. "The state's duty should be to understand how we can encourage more so that you have all the necessary conditions and focus on your training, upcoming tournaments, and competitions. We must do everything possible to go to competitions in a good mood and record new victories. "After your victories, the number of boys and girls who want to do gymnastics increases, which is very important," said the minister of MESCS.
Zhanna Andreasyan, referring to the recent victory of Olympic bronze medalist and the world and European champion Artur Davtyan, noted that with his many medals, Davtyan provides the qualitative threshold that younger athletes should strive for. "You taught us always to expect victories and medals. Both you and Vahagn are distinguished by regular competition and continuous progress. I am thrilled that the young generation is also achieving such good and encouraging results."
According to the Minister of Sports Gymnastics, fans must be able to watch the competitions of Armenian gymnasts in our country at the European Gymnastics Championship to be held in Yerevan in 2027. Zhanna Andreasyan also thanked the coaches for their invaluable work in connection with the unprecedented results recorded by the gymnasts.
Karen Giloyan, the deputy minister of KGSMS, also congratulated the gymnasts and highlighted their steady success. "If we had flashes and surprise victories a few years ago, today, these successes are logical. They are based on Hakob Serobyan and his team members with their enthusiasm and dedicated work."
The head coach of the national team, Hakob Serobyan, thanked for the reception, stressing that the athletes feel the constant support of the state.
During the meeting with the MESCS minister, the representatives of the gymnastics federation raised several issues related to training conditions, sports equipment, and the additional funding needed to prepare for the upcoming tournaments.
According to the athletes, the financial support provided by the state in the form of sports allowances and nominal pensions is received on time without delays.
According to Zhanna Andreasyan, there are still unresolved issues related to improving training conditions. The minister of MESCS assured me that the issues raised by the athletes are at the center of the state's attention and will get an appropriate response and solution.
