The European wrestling championship has started and is underway in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Four out of 5 Armenian wrestlers started the fight.
Arman Avagyan (79 kg) defeated Bulgarian Mikhail Iliev 5-1 in the 1/8 finals. To reach the semi-finals, the Armenian wrestler will wrestle with the Romanian Maxim Vasilioglou.
World Cup winner Vazgen Tevanyan (65 kg) also started the fight from the 1/8 finals, defeating Joshua Stewart representing Israel with a score of 10-0. Tevanyan will compete in the quarter-finals with the winner of the wrestling match between Islam Dudayev, representing Albania, and Ali Rahimeada from Azerbaijan.
In the 57 kg weight class, Manvel Khndzrtsyan lost 5:8 to Bulgarian Georgi Vangelov, and Sergey Sargsyan (97 kg) lost 0:8 to German Eric Thiel in the opening bout.
The other representative of Armenia, 70 kg Arman Andreasyan, will start the fight from the quarter-finals.
