RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Karen Giloyan participated in the 18th extraordinary conference of the Armenian Boxing Federation. The conference's agenda included the 2021/22 speeches of the RA Boxing Federation President. Issues related to the presentation of the report and the activities of 2023, the establishment of regional federations of the boxing federation's member territorial structures, the preparation of the European Youth Championship to be held in Yerevan in April 2023, and the nomination of candidates for the creation of the organizing committee, the proper preparation and participation in the RA championships, refereeing and international tournaments.

The deputy minister of MESCS highly appreciated the work and achievements of the federation. "The fact that there is a positive change in boxing is indisputable and does not need additional evidence. 2022 was a very successful year for Armenian sports and, in particular, Armenian boxing, and the 307 medals won in various sports prove this. We also had great success in boxing, which would not have been possible if it were not for the hard work of the coaches, the dedicated training of the athletes, the huge work of the federation, the government's investment in sports in general and boxing in particular."

According to Hovhannes Hovsepyan, the president of the Armenian Boxing Federation, the federation is tasked with registering more significant results in the future. "We still need to break ice and stereotypes; in particular, we need to have world champions because we have such boxers. And why not? We are already thinking about real Olympic gold. Olympic rankings will also be played at this year's European Games. The head coach of the national team has the task of winning the maximum number of tickets to the European Games," he said.

Referring to the European Youth Championship to be held in Yerevan in April, Hovhannes Hovsepyan noted that preparations are underway according to the plan. As for the championship venue, the "Mika" gymnasium option is currently being discussed.

During the conference, many issues related to the proper participation of the RA national teams in the Armenian championships and refereeing international tests were raised and discussed. The federation's president informed us there would be a new appeal format and committee during the Armenian title.

In March, the women's boxing team will participate in the world championships in India, and the men's world championships will take place in Uzbekistan in May.
