Shant Sargsyan, third prize winner of the European Blitz Chess Championship

Grandmaster Shant Sargsyan took third place in the European blitz chess championship held in Katowice, Poland, and won a bronze medal. With 17.5 points scored in 22 games, Sargsyan showed the best result with the representative of the Czech Republic, David Navara, and the representative of Poland, Maciej Klekowski. Still, after the calculation of additional coefficients, he took third place.

Shant Sargsyan won 15 games in the championship, ended five games in a draw, and suffered two defeats. Grandmaster Robert Hovhannisyan also represented Armenia in this review, who took 9th place in the blitz chess tournament, scoring 16.5 points.

The European rapid chess championship was also held in Katowice, where, however, the representatives of Armenia were left out of the medals. Shant Sargsyan took 16th place, scoring 8.5 points out of 11 possible, and Robert Hovhannisyan finished the tournament in 18th place with the same number of issues.
