For the first time in the history of Armenia, Armenia will have a gold medal at the European Senior Women's Championship. The Armenian Boxing Federation reports this.
Sona Harutyunyan, weighing 63 kg, secured our first medal in the competition held in Budva, Montenegro. In the quarter finals, the Armenian athlete competed with Tekle Laminidzei from Georgia and won with a significant advantage.
In all three rounds, Sona fought a tactically very competent fight. As a result, all referees awarded the victory to Harutyunyan with a score of 5:0. She is in the semi-finals and has secured at least a bronze medal.
The 2nd medal was secured by Ani Hovsepyan, weighing 69 kg, who defeated her opponent by knockout. The Armenian sportswoman crushed her opponent in the fight with Hungarian Regina Lakos. From the start of the first round, Ani was the initiator and delivered a barrage of powerful blows to her opponent. One of our athlete's kicks hit the Hungarian very hard, and the referee opened a score.
In the 2nd round, Ani's lead was much more significant. In the middle of the 2nd round, another powerful shot from Ani hit the target; the referee opened the score and, seeing the Hungarian walking back and struggling to stay on his feet, stopped the fight.
