Armenia has a champion in the European Youth Championship in Turkey. 42 kg Hamest Afrikyan won the first gold medal for Armenia.
The Armenian sportswoman had a tough fight with Serena Mali, representing England. In the first round, Afrikyan won with a score of 4:1; in the second round, the referees gave the advantage to the English athlete with the same score. The 3rd, decisive round turned out to be quite challenging; the competitor was tall and active. Still, the referees found that the Armenian athlete's strikes were more accurate and awarded her the victory.
The new champion of Europe was awarded by the President of the Armenian Boxing Federation, Hovhannes Hovsepyan.
