Yerevan should recall the humanitarian mission of the RA operating under the Russian command from Aleppo

Arman Babajanyan, chairman of the "For the Republic" party, wrote on his "Facebook" page.

"In 2019, at the urging of the apical leadership of the Ministry of Defense of those days, based on the security considerations of Armenia and Artsakh, despite the absolute disagreement of the West, Armenia, under the command of the Russian Federation, sent a humanitarian mission to Syria.
Due to setbacks on the Ukrainian front, Russia seems to be withdrawing its troops from Syria.
What does Armenia think about this?
According to Davit Tonoyan, the short-sighted defense minister of those days, sending troops to Syria would increase Russia's support for Armenia, significantly change the position of our country, and make it more resistant.
Subsequent events and events were different; due to large-scale external regional changes, Armenia had already lost its importance to Russia. Clear signs of this appeared during the April war, but, as subsequent events showed, neither before the revolution nor after it, official Yerevan did not believe, did not want to come to terms with that idea.
Despite many warnings from Washington and Brussels, at the end of February 2019, Yerevan decided to send a humanitarian mission to Syria under the Russian command, rejected by the world for the sake of an additional security umbrella.
As a result, although US President Trump's policy significantly reduced that country's involvement in many problems of the post-Soviet region, these and many other steps, decisions, and statements further reduced the involvement of the West in the Karabakh settlement and South Caucasus regional reform processes.
The consequence was the joint implementation of at least two plans by Russia and Turkey in the devastating war of 2020: the conquest of Artsakh by war and the destruction of Armenian statehood.
Neither one nor the other, Russia and Turkey, have been able to make it a reality to restore the balance of power in the region due to Yerevan's aspirations.
We are coming to the Armenian humanitarian mission in Syria.
Considering the perspective of deepening relations between Yerevan and the USA, Yerevan should take the initiative in this matter and recall the humanitarian mission of Armenia operating under Russian command from Aleppo, Syria."
