The Fact-Checking Platform (fip.am) writes:
“Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed regional issues, Armenia-Azerbaijan, Armenia-Turkey relations, as well as the “Trump Route” project at a press conference on January 15. The Armenian media and some political circles distort his statements, attributing to Fidan statements he did not make.
Context
Thus, during the press conference, in the section on Armenia, Fidan, recalling the agreement reached between the United States and Armenia on the implementation of TRIPP (“Trump Route to International Peace and Prosperity”), which was discussed during the visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Washington, noted that there are some technical issues in this regard. He added that Turkey and Azerbaijan are also studying this agreement, and he discussed the issue with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
Speaking about Turkey’s expectations from the process, Fidan noted: “We expect that this agreement, which was initially signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia, will be concluded and that the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia will be implemented as soon as possible, so that we can move forward in the region on the path of stability and prosperity. Currently, this will exist among the political leaderships of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey; all three sides have this intention, and there are only a few steps that Armenia needs to take.”
Fidan also noted that elections will be held in Armenia in June 2026 and that this process will be an essential stage. “We see that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is currently leading in public opinion polls. We sincerely support the constructive role he is playing in this matter. This approach, this will must continue.”
