In December, that issue will no longer be there. The Prime Minister on the problems of importing liquefied gas

The Chairman of the Competition and Consumer Protection Committee, Gegham Gevorgyan, addressed the increase in liquefied gas prices.

“This is a normal process that takes place every December; there is nothing unusual,” he said at a government session. According to Gevorgyan, “every year, when there is a problem with the Lars road junction, transportation costs increase. It is a normal process: it is cheaper in April-May and more expensive in December. There is no serious problem or deficit here.”

Responding, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the solution to the issue should be considered in the context of regional de-blockade.

“The Republic of Armenia must have different routes and sources of supplies. This is the issue. We should not look for much,” he said, adding that we must go that way, and we are going. “Be sure, this December, there will be no more such issues, be sure.”

Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan added that liquefied gas is imported into Armenia from Russia via Upper Lars and from Iran.
“There are complications in two directions due to well-known circumstances: in one case, heavy snowfall, in the other, you know. Our proposal to businesspeople was as follows: it’s time to use rail communications. I think we will be able to solve this issue once and for all in the near future, because railway communication does not face such problems as Upper Lars.”

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan also noted that liquefied gas can be brought by rail. He expressed confidence that liquefied gas will be able to be imported in the near future.
