RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan reported that 139,933 tourists visited Armenia in December, the highest monthly figure in the country's history.
He noted that the indicators for the May-December period this year are also the best in Armenia's history.
"This year we had 2 million 263,642 tourists, which is 2.5% more than the previous year's indicator," Papoyan said. As for the highest historical indicator, he says it was recorded in 2023.
Prime Minister Pashinyan also spoke about the factors affecting tourism development, noting the attractiveness of the aviation market. "Every month, we hear announcements from various international airlines about operating flights to and from Yerevan. This is also very significant," he said.
"At the end of March, when Armenia and Azerbaijan announced the successful completion of negotiations on a peace agreement, this was reflected in tourism figures already in May, and the Washington summit on August 8, in turn, became an additional stimulus and was reflected in tourism flows after August."
