The Chairman of the Water Committee, Aramazd Ghalamkarian, participated in the 14th annual ministerial-level meeting of the Governing Council of the Regional Center for Urban Water Management (RCUWM) in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), the committee reported.
The meeting, which was invited by the Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Chairman of the RCUWM Governing Council, Abbas Ali Abadi, discussed the impact of the growth of the world's urban population on limited water resources, climate change and its effects on water quality, management and the water cycle, the decline in water resources and the need for a coordinated international response.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Water Committee noted that Armenia is ready to continue its constructive participation in the regional center's work, including efforts to strengthen overall water security in the region.
Aramazd Ghalamkarian emphasized that Armenia sees an effective solution to regional water problems through coordinated action, complementary expertise, and long-term strategic cooperation.
Accompanied by the Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hakobyan, Ghalamkaryan participated in the 21st International Exhibition of "Water Industry, Water Supply and Sewerage Systems" at the Tehran International Exhibition Center, got acquainted with the technological solutions, services and products offered by leading Iranian companies, assessed their possible applicability in terms of the modernization of Armenia's water infrastructure, and established contacts for possible further cooperation.
The representative of the Armenian delegation also visited the Iranian Hydropower Resources Development Company, which is the largest builder of reservoirs and energy infrastructure in Iran.
Ghalamkaryan discussed several issues of mutual interest with the leaders of the Iranian Ministry of Energy, including the possibility of holding the next session of the Governing Board of the "Regional Center for Urban Water Management" (RCUWM) in Armenia.
