The first EU assessment mission under the RA-EU Visa Liberalisation Action Plan is scheduled to take place in Armenia in the near future, with on-site meetings and discussions with relevant Armenian departments.
The visit of EU Member State experts aims to assess the progress of implementing the first phase (Phase 1) benchmarks related to the legislative and policy framework in all four areas of the VLAP. The delegation’s visit will result in the European Commission’s first assessment report on the Action Plan, which is scheduled for publication in spring 2026.
The assessment will be carried out in a two-stage format, performance-based:
- Initial benchmarks on the development of the legislative and policy framework,
- Second-stage benchmarks on their practical implementation and application.
The EU Commission will regularly present progress reports based on on-site assessments, observations by Member State experts, and detailed information provided by Armenia.
