Today, the regular session of the Government of the Republic of Armenia was held, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
By the decision of the Government, 8.4 billion drams will be allocated to finance the construction works of the North-South Road Corridor Investment Program - Tranche 4, the 32-km Kajaran-Agarak road section, 22 million drams are planned to be allocated for the assessment, detailed measurement survey and inventory of affected land plots within the framework of the land alienation and resettlement program of the Sisian-Kajaran road section of the North-South Road Corridor, 8.7 million drams for the implementation of the safety expertise of the Bargushat tunnel project.
Referring to the decision, Nikol Pashinyan noted that the North-South project is beginning to crystallize and become more tangible, and construction is proceeding at a rapid pace. The Prime Minister was interested in what stage of the project implementation we are currently at, to which Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan responded: "In terms of Yerevan-Gyumri, we have two sections where work is still being carried out: 34 km and 8 km road sections. Work on both sections will be completed by the end of the year. As for the Kajaran-Agarak road section, work on the 32 km section started last year. By the end of the year, we will have completed work worth 70 million dollars."
The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that parallel work is underway on the Sisian-Kajaran section. Financing agreements for the two road sections have been signed with international financial organizations, and construction tenders will be announced by the end of the year. "The tunnel section from Kajaran to Meghri will join this 32 km road section, and excellent work is underway there to select the builder. By the end of the year, we will have a selected builder who will carry out work in 2026," said Tigran Khachatryan.
Responding, Nikol Pashinyan noted that it is already clear how the road construction will be achieved. "I also want to emphasize that this year, especially our budgetary affairs are going well, and we already have a positive attitude towards the implementation of the annual budget program," the Prime Minister said.
Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Eduard Hakobyan said in response: "In January-October, we have about 14 percent growth in budget tax revenues and duties. That is, double-digit growth is maintained, including in October. As of now, if we summarize October, 82 percent of the entire program (the indicator for tax revenues and state duties provided for by the RA Law on the State Budget for 2025) has been paid. That is, we only have 18 percent of the state budget revenues left, together with taxpayers."
Taking this opportunity, Nikol Pashinyan once again expressed gratitude to the citizens working in the Republic of Armenia, creating results and paying taxes as prescribed by law. "What we talked about today - school, kindergarten, property, road, etc. - is all at the expense of the payments they made. Moreover, I would like to point out that the loan funds are also subject to the same logic, as these loans are serviced from the taxes paid by citizens. Once again, I want to ask and urge all our citizens not to forget about the cash register receipt when making purchases, because, regardless of the type of activity, it is also an important operation for generating state budget revenues."
