Hakob Arshakyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Council for the Development of Science and Technology of Armenia, participated in and delivered a welcoming speech at the 10th Armenian Internet Governance Conference.

Hakob Arshakyan emphasized the crucial importance of the Internet and new technologies in the evolving world, particularly in the context of Armenia's development. The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly spoke about the impact of the Internet on the economy, society, and everyday life in the 1990s, and also in our country, noting that the Internet has changed the lives and lifestyles of both the economy and society, creating new opportunities.

Referring to new development opportunities, the development of artificial intelligence, robotics, and aerospace, he, in particular, noted: "We are facing a situation where artificial intelligence is changing entire industrial chains. It is already in our lives, but its presence, I think, will change the economy, public life, and everyday life beyond recognition in the coming years." The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly spoke about the impacts of innovation in the field at different times and the attitude towards them.

According to the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, both industry and public life will undergo a significant transformation over the years with the adoption of innovative technologies. In this context, he expressed the opinion that in the near future, humanoid robots equipped with artificial intelligence will free humanity from several household worries, allowing them to engage more in education, science, creative work, their favorite occupations, and raising children.

"The issues of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of countries will be related to the extent to which countries can use new technologies, in particular, artificial intelligence, robotics, and aerospace technologies, for their development and serving their societies, and to what extent this educational environment will be accessible to people and to what extent people will benefit from it," Hakob Arshakyan stated.

In this context, he highlighted the work of the Armenian Council for the Development of Science and Technology, under the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, which resulted in the establishment and operation of the Armenian Innovation Foundation. Noting that it is a body responsible for creating long-term state programs, the NA Deputy Speaker detailed the work carried out within its framework aimed at developing the sector.

The opportunities and challenges of Armenia's Internet resilience, digital policy, broadband Internet access, and technological progress were discussed at the 10th Armenian Internet Governance Conference held on November 6.
