The German Embassy announced that Germany will provide Armenia with 152 million euros in strategic assistance by 2027.
The second round of intergovernmental negotiations between Armenia and Germany has been successfully concluded.
Armenia and Germany have agreed on strategic cooperation in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency, private sector development, vocational education, water supply and sanitation, infrastructure, as well as good governance, decentralization, and community development. Thus, Germany remains one of the most essential partners in Armenia’s bilateral relations.
The negotiations were led by Niels Ahnen, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). He noted: “Germany’s primary goal is to support Armenia’s democratic and reform process strategically, in particular, further rapprochement with the EU, economic diversification, and especially the development of a green economy, but of course, above all, to promote the well-being and social integration of Armenian society. Only on this basis can the current peace-building efforts and the possible opening of borders be successful and sustainable.”
A 12-member high-level Armenian delegation, led by Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan, including eight deputy ministers from key partner ministries and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, participated in the two-day talks.
Germany remains Armenia’s reliable partner, also in terms of the upcoming political milestones in 2026. Additional support will be provided for the organization of the parliamentary elections in June, as well as for the #CoP17 of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
Alongside the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the implementing partners GIZ and the KfW Development Bank, the German delegation also included representatives from the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, as well as the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, and Nuclear Safety—a real result from #TeamGermany for a democratic and strong Armenia.
We look forward to continuing our cooperation.”
