Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan and Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service Nelly Davtyan participated in the 10th International Migration Conference in Vienna.

The Vienna Migration Conference is one of the leading platforms for international migration policy, and its sessions are distinguished by in-depth analysis of the challenges arising from transformations in global trends, economic restructuring, labor market pressures, and protracted conflicts.

Several key topics were discussed during the conference, including the mechanisms for implementing the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum and the issues arising within this framework, the role of migration partnerships in promoting cooperation, strategies for attracting skills and talents, return and reintegration policies, particularly in the context of post-conflict reconstruction, and the use of forecasting and analytical tools in the process of effective migration management.

At the conference's opening, two European Commissioners delivered video messages. A panel discussion was organized featuring migration officials from several countries, including the Ministers of Interior of Austria, Sweden, Jordan, and Egypt.

At the conference, participants discussed the sustainability of protection systems, responsibility-sharing mechanisms, and preparedness for crises, while developing an understanding of how to align national priorities with international cooperative actions.

Representatives of the Armenian delegation held several working meetings, including with the current Director of the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), Michael Spindelegger, and the already elected next Director, Susan Raab. The current partnership was discussed, and future programs were outlined.

The Armenian delegation also met with Arthur Erekn, Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Issues related to the continuation of cooperation were discussed, in particular, the visa liberalization process and the modernization of migration management.
