Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan participated in the event marking the eightieth anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. In his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the organization’s key role in strengthening peace, development, and human rights. Among other issues, he touched upon the practical UN-RA cooperation and the importance of the COP17 conference to be held in Armenia.
“Having passed through decades of war and human tragedy, the world united in a firm conviction that peace, cooperation, development, and human rights should become the pillars of human coexistence. Thus was established the United Nations, whose 8 decades of existence have been marked by numerous successes in promoting international peace, eradicating poverty, advancing the rights of women and vulnerable groups, and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Since joining the UN in 1992, Armenia has always acted as a responsible partner. 2026 In October, Armenia will host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, promoting international cooperation to effectively respond to the global challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss.
We highly appreciate the programmatic cooperation with the UN Office in Armenia, which has contributed significantly to the establishment of democratic institutions in Armenia, the protection of human rights, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, and the protection of refugees and other vulnerable groups.
