NASA is looking to other companies for its Moon program

The American space agency, NASA, has decided to cooperate with other private companies to implement an operated lunar landing program, as Elon Musk's SpaceX is not meeting the deadlines.

This NASA program began during the presidency of Donald Trump, when he instructed the agency to return to the Moon with a new, more technologically advanced mission. The last human-crewed flight to the Moon was Apollo 17 in 1972. In 2021, NASA signed a $ 2.89 billion contract with SpaceX to land on the Moon using Musk's Starship system. However, Starship has had several unsuccessful tests in the past two years, which have caused delays.

In December 2024, NASA announced the postponement of two missions, with the next Artemis flight scheduled for April 2026 and the actual lunar landing in mid-2027.

By the way, relations between Musk and Trump have been strained recently.
