An investigation has been launched into Tesla

The U.S. Department of Transportation has opened an investigation into Tesla over possible malfunctions in its complete self-driving system. The agency said it has received 58 complaints that Tesla cars have driven on the wrong side of the road, failed to stop at red lights, and, in some cases, caused collisions.

The investigation concerns about 2.9 million vehicles equipped with the self-driving mode. This mode allows the car to change lanes or make turns on its own, but the driver must constantly monitor the situation and be ready to intervene. The investigation is also looking into cases in which cars have drifted into oncoming traffic while making turns, and drivers have failed to intervene.

Tesla is also currently under investigation over its door locking mechanisms. In some cases, children have been trapped in cars, and drivers have had to break windows to get them out.

It should be noted that Tesla recently introduced cheaper versions of its two most popular models, trying to compete with more affordable electric cars from Chinese manufacturers.
