A number of social media platforms in Afghanistan have been blocked, the BBC's Afghan service has been told by Taliban government sources.
According to officials at the Afghan Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, filters have been applied to Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to block certain content. It is not clear which posts have been targeted.
The move follows a two-day general internet shutdown last week. Taliban officials have yet to offer an explanation. However, cybersecurity firm NetBlocks has confirmed that the restrictions were indeed deliberate. Residents in various provinces across Afghanistan have reported slow internet speeds.
