In September 2025, during the regular field work carried out by the biodiversity group of the Hayhydromet SNCO, the Battarrea phalloides mushroom species was recorded in the territory of the “Artsvaberd” forestry enterprise.
It is included in the Red Book of the Republic of Armenia as an Extinct (EX - Extinct) species. Before this registration, it was found in Armenia only in 1915 in the Lori floristic region, near Akhtala, but its herbarium material was not preserved.
The species was sampled for further research.
There were five specials in the area.
According to archaeological data, the Amanita phalloides mushroom species is a relic of the Neolithic Age; the main reason for its endangerment is the elimination of the corresponding biotopes.
