Armenia approaches the development of the Green Economy as a strategic priority

Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan participated in the 11th World Green Economy Summit in Dubai, presenting the country's vision and steps towards building a green and sustainable future.

"For Armenia, the green economy is not only a political direction, but also a new development model that combines well-being, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion. This is a vital necessity for the country. It has been declared a strategic priority in the 2021-2026 government program," the minister noted.

Circular economy solutions are being developed in Armenia, sustainable mobility is being promoted, and financial mechanisms for green investments are being introduced. A crucial step is the adoption of the Green Taxonomy, which serves as a clear guide for investors and policymakers. A climate finance tracking system is also being introduced into the state budget, ensuring transparency and effective management of climate finance.

"Armenia's approach is based on the conviction that environmental sustainability is inseparable from economic competitiveness and social justice.

At the same time, it was emphasized that the green transition is possible only through international cooperation. Armenia is ready to share its experience and contribute to global efforts to accelerate the transition to a green economy," the minister concluded his speech.
