Armenia will have a permanent representative at Eurojust

By decision of the Government, a prosecutor (representative) for cooperation with Eurojust will operate under the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, thereby ensuring the exchange of information and data necessary for actions aimed at revealing transnational crimes. This, in turn, will contribute to the rapid and operational execution of requests from the central or competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia to the competent authorities of a foreign state for legal assistance in criminal proceedings, including extradition requests, as well as relevant requests from the competent authorities of foreign states. According to the justification, the scope of competence of the European Union Criminal Justice Agency (Eurojust) is quite broad, in the context of the fight against crime it includes such areas as the fight against terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, money laundering, trafficking in human beings and organs, kidnapping and several other similar crimes, as well as the areas of racism and xenophobia, genocide and crimes against humanity. The full implementation of the tools provided through cooperation with Eurojust will enable the expansion of the scope of collaboration between the Republic of Armenia and the competent authorities of the European Union and its Member States in all areas of mutual interest. The agreement envisions establishing direct contact between Eurojust and the competent authority of the Republic of Armenia, which will facilitate the exchange of information and data necessary to ensure the smooth conduct of operations aimed at detecting cross-border crimes.
