A plan to build a new nuclear power plant is being considered in Armenia.

On September 22 this year, PSRC Chairman Mesrop Mesropyan received Alexander Timani, Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission to Armenia, and Umang Rawat, IMF Resident Representative.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the key issues of Armenia’s energy sector development, in particular, the possible project to build a new nuclear power plant, the structure of its tariff policy, the regulations of autonomous energy producers, and issues related to the tariffs for electricity sold to consumers.

It was noted that a project to build a new nuclear power plant is being considered in Armenia. The goal of this project is to ensure the country’s energy security and stable electricity supply in the long term. Investment opportunities, financial stability, and transparent tariff policy were emphasized.
