On September 12, RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received Brendan Hanrahan, Senior Official at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the US Department of State. Deputy Minister Anushik Avetyan and US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia Kristina Kvien were also present at the meeting.
The prospects for expanding economic cooperation and increasing trade turnover between the Republic of Armenia and the United States were discussed. The development of bilateral relations in several key areas was discussed, including trade and investment, agriculture and food security, energy, high technologies and innovation, information technology and the digital economy, and tourism.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. They expressed their willingness to continue joint work aimed at strengthening economic ties, improving the investment environment, and promoting new initiatives.
Referring to the TRIPP communication program and infrastructure, Gevorg Papoyan stressed that Armenia is very interested in the TRIPP communication program and proposed to develop these projects in the PPP format, ensuring the attraction of private investments, as well as to initiate the development of a roadmap for the implementation of the program.
They exchanged views on the “Crossroads of Peace” project. In this context, Gevorg Papoyan emphasized that the “Crossroads of Peace” is not only an economic project, but also a project to strengthen regional peace and stability, which will contribute to the deepening of regional cooperation and the reduction of tensions.
The Minister also noted that Armenia attaches great importance to American experience and assistance in the modernization of infrastructure and border security.
