At today's session, the Executive approved a draft Government resolution, according to which the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 17) will be held in 2026 at the Meridian Expo Center.
For this purpose, the Government of the Republic of Armenia will sign a public procurement contract for the provision of services with Meridian Holding CJSC.
To ensure a high level of the event, a reallocation will be made in the 2025 state budget of the Republic of Armenia, and 5775.0 million drams will be allocated for the organization of the COP 17 conference. The money will be spent on the renovation, construction, and improvement of the premises at the Meridian Expo Center, bringing the entire area into compliance with the high level of organization of the above-mentioned event at the Meridian Expo Center.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and I visited the Meridian Expo Center to observe the work aimed at ensuring the accessibility and relevance of the center's infrastructure and services and the building, design, and engineering capabilities of the center, as well as to get acquainted with professional proposals on the formation of the infrastructure necessary for holding the conference.
Let me remind you that the COP 17 conference is scheduled to be held in Armenia from October 18-30, 2026.
