On September 10, RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received Mohammad Sadegh Azimifar, Deputy Minister of Oil of Iran. The meeting was also attended by Iranian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia Mehdi Sobhani, Deputy Ministers Narek Hovakimyan and Edgar Zakaryan, as well as RA Trade Attaché to the Islamic Republic of Iran Hayk Nazaryan.
"Welcoming the guest, I highlighted the importance of developing the close partnership established in the economic sphere between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
I noted that Armenia is interested in high-quality, competitively priced Iranian liquefied gas, which could become the basis for long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation, while contributing to the strengthening of the country's energy security.
Reference was made to future cooperation opportunities, which include: expanding trade in oil and oil products, developing liquefied and natural gas supply infrastructure, joint investments in the energy sector, and the effective use of regional transport and logistics hubs ("North-South", "Crossroads of Peace").
