"Addressing the issue of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages illegally held in Azerbaijan continues to be the focus of the RA Foreign Ministry's attention, first of all, in contacts with the Azerbaijani side, expecting a positive outcome," the RA Foreign Ministry responded to Radar Armenia's inquiry.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the topic and possible solutions are also discussed at meetings with international partners, both bilaterally and multilaterally, and regular meetings are held with relatives of prisoners of war, missing and forcibly disappeared persons, and several international organizations, including the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Radar Armenia was interested in how contact with Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku will continue after the termination of the ICRC delegation's activities in Azerbaijan.
According to the Foreign Ministry, ICRC representatives publicly stated that they will continue to cooperate with Azerbaijan to support persons protected by international humanitarian law.
The Foreign Ministry's response also states that Minister Ararat Mirzoyan constantly raises the issue of the release of Armenian prisoners of war in meetings with international partners, and the initialing and, later, signing of the "Peace Agreement" will create a favorable environment for more effective addressing of humanitarian issues.
Let us recall that by the decision of the Azerbaijani government, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has suspended the activities of its delegation in Azerbaijan from September 3, 2025."
