Former human rights defender Arman Tatoyan made a Facebook post on September 3, according to which Azerbaijan has completed the registration of about 100 thousand “Western Azerbaijanis” for settlement in Armenia. According to him, the Azerbaijani authorities continue to promote the “Western Azerbaijan” program in the same way, the ultimate goal of which is a sharp change in the demographic picture in Armenia and the complete annexation of Armenia.
However, the information published by Tatoyan was denied. According to CivilNet, there is no official information that would confirm the former human rights defender’s post.
Radar Armenia tried to contact Arman Tatoyan for comment to understand why he spread false information and presented the 2-year-old story as a new program. However, all our attempts to contact Tatoyan were unsuccessful.
They only mentioned that Arman Tatoyan clarified the previous publication in a Facebook post. And according to that publication, “the authorities are not giving peace to their well-founded opinion about Azerbaijan’s real intentions,” and “Azerbaijan has not abandoned its plans for aggression against Armenia.”
And why information from several years ago was presented as new, disorienting, and misleading the public—there is no word on that.
