Iran-Armenia power transmission project to be completed in a short time

The executive has made a decision that will enable the completion of the "Construction of the Iran-Armenia 400 kV overhead power line and the corresponding substation" program in the shortest possible time, thereby mitigating further increases in electricity tariffs for the end consumer. Under the 2025 State Budget of the Republic of Armenia, under the 2012 measure 1167 "Double extension of the design period of operation of the 2nd power unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant" CJSC, 10,029,980.0 thousand drams were planned for the first nine months of 2025, and 13,529,980.0 thousand drams for the year, however, due to the extension of the tender processes for the implementation of the measure, it is possible to allocate 828,000.0 thousand drams from the planned funds to the "High-Voltage Electric Networks" company for the first nine months of 2025. drams, and to allocate 1,035,000.0 thousand drams for the year. To utilize the funds for 1,035,000.0 thousand drams within the event's framework, the funds have been reallocated for the period 2026-2028.

With the adoption of the decision, the program will be completed in the shortest possible time, the mutual flows of electricity between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran will increase from 350 MW to 1200 MW, the level of security, reliability and stability of the energy system of Armenia will increase, and an opportunity will be created to use the full capacity of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline within the framework of the "Gas for Electricity" program.
