Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is in the United States on a working visit, visited the Museum of the Bible in Washington.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by the museum’s general director, Aaron Ross, toured the museum and got acquainted with the exhibits. The museum also featured exhibits of Armenian Christian heritage, as well as the ancient Armenian Bible.
Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that he was impressed by the exhibits presented at the museum and donated a copy of the medieval illustrated scroll of Grigor Narekatsi to the museum.
It is one of the oldest copies of the world-renowned prayer book “The Book of Tragedies” by Grigor Narekatsi. The original was written in 1173 in Cilicia by the famous scribe and artist Grigor Skevratsi, commissioned by the great Armenian theologian Nerses Lambronatsi. The manuscript is preserved in the Matenadaran as one of the exceptional masterpieces of Armenian written and miniature art.
