President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lebanon to Armenia Maya Dagher on the occasion of the completion of her diplomatic mission.

President Khachaturyan thanked Ambassador Dagher for the work done, emphasizing that warm, friendly ties and shared values have historically shaped the attitude of the Armenian people towards Lebanon.

"I am sure that you are well aware of our attitude towards the state and people of Lebanon. Believe me, every event taking place in Lebanon, whether positive or negative, is received with the same compassion as if it had occurred in our own country.

We have always felt the need for each other. This applies to all spheres of life, from political cooperation to supporting each other on international platforms," the President said.

In this context, Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed gratitude for the position recently expressed by Lebanon during the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul. He highly appreciated the fact that Lebanon expressed reservations regarding the wording of the adopted statement, which was included with an anti-Armenian subtext at the initiative of Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the need to strengthen relations between the two countries, the President noted that the future should be viewed with optimism. "I see a brighter future for our two countries," he added.

Ambassador Maya Dagher thanked for the reception and noted: "I am leaving Armenia after almost eight years of carrying out a diplomatic mission. I am leaving with sadness, but at the same time with joy, because, as you mentioned, the future will be bright for our two countries."

During the meeting, the need to activate Armenian-Lebanese relations as soon as possible was discussed, taking into account the reconstruction and restoration processes that have recently begun in Lebanon, as well as the historical ties and strong foundations of mutual trust between the two peoples.

At the end of the conversation, the President of the Republic extended his best wishes to Ambassador Dagher, wishing him success and new achievements in his future endeavors.
