The Deputy Minister's speech is being distorted. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson

Spokesperson for the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ani Badalyan, wrote on her social media page:

“Today, in response to a journalist’s question, RA Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan reaffirmed the RA’s principled position on unblocking regional channels. In his speech, the Deputy Minister repeatedly emphasized the principles considered key for the RA, including sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national jurisdiction, which the proposals and solutions to be discussed must comply with, leaving no room for misunderstanding. The Deputy Minister rejected the term and phenomenon of “control” by a third party.

Despite this, the topic has been distorted in the press and by various social media users, aimed at spreading false headlines and creating unfounded noise against the backdrop of the negotiations in Abu Dhabi.

We emphasize once again that the vision of unblocking the channels is grounded in the aforementioned fundamental principles, and we urge our media partners to refrain from publishing and engaging in activities that deliberately distort reality. We hereby expect the removal of publications that change the topic, refutation, and dissemination of this publication.

Direct quote from Deputy Minister Safaryan: “This process must be carried out under the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia; if it complies with these principles, yes, it can be carried out.”
