President Vahagn Khachaturyan received a delegation led by Gunars Kutris, Head of the Latvia-Armenia Friendship Group of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia.
Welcoming the guests, President Khachaturyan noted the critical role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations.
"We attach great importance to parliamentary diplomacy. Since 2018, Armenia has become a state with a parliamentary system of government," said the President of the Republic.
In his speech, the President also noted that the two countries have strong and friendly relations, both bilaterally and multilaterally, within the framework of the European Union.
"We attach importance to our cooperation at two levels. I believe that there are great untapped opportunities between our countries, especially in terms of deepening cooperation in the economic sphere," the President added.
Gunars Kutris expressed gratitude for the reception and noted that his delegation visit to Armenia aimed to strengthen relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, issues related to fully realizing the potential of cooperation between the countries were discussed. The parties attached importance to promoting parliamentary diplomacy as an effective platform for strengthening dialogue and mutual trust.
The need to deepen ties and develop cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural spheres and between business communities was also discussed.
During the meeting, thoughts were exchanged on the regional situation. In this context, President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed Armenia's clear position aimed at establishing stable and lasting peace. The President noted that regional stability and development are possible only with mutual respect, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.
Reference was also made to the "Crossroads of Peace" strategic program initiated by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, which aims to create new economic opportunities for all countries in the region. President Khachaturian emphasized that this program can become a unique guarantee for regional security and comprehensive development.
