NA Speaker Alen Simonyan sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Republic Day, which states explicitly:
"Dear compatriots,
I congratulate all of us on the occasion of Republic Day.
On May 28, 1918, after the heroic battles of Sardarapat, Bash-Aparan, and Gharakilisa, the Armenian statehood that had been disrupted for centuries was restored. The Armenian people, having experienced one of the most challenging periods they faced, were able to believe in their strength and stood up, creating an independent republic. Although the First Republic of Armenia had a very short life, it was a turning point in our national thinking and left a deep mark on the consciousness of future generations.
May 28 is not only about the past. It is our course toward the future, toward a stable, just, and firm state.
Our generation is responsible for building a country where the state serves the citizens and the citizen feels protected. This is our commitment, which we will certainly bring to life with joint efforts.

Happy Republic Day, citizens of the free, independent, and sovereign Republic of Armenia," the congratulatory message reads.
